Job description

Senior Technical Designer – Commercial Workplace D&B

East London

£55,000–£65,000 + Commission (£60,000–£70,000 Package)

I’m working with a growing, design-led commercial workplace fit-out business looking to add a Senior Technical Designer to their ambitious team.

You’ll be working on fast-paced projects, taking them from concept through to completion and acting as the bridge between design and delivery. You’ll work closely with clients, designers and project teams to turn creative ideas into practical, buildable projects.

This is a hands-on, holistic role for someone confident across RIBA Stages 4 and 5, who enjoys being client-facing, getting out on site and seeing their work come to life.

It’s also a great move for an architect looking to get into commercial fit-out. Compared with traditional practice, you could see a stronger package, quicker project cycles, faster progression and more direct involvement with clients and delivery teams. You’ll see the full project lifecycle and build experience that could put you on the path towards Design Management if you want it.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Developing detailed technical drawings and coordinated Revit models across RIBA Stages 4 and 5
  • Turning design concepts into practical, buildable solutions while keeping the design intent
  • Coordinating with interior designers, consultants, subcontractors and project managers to resolve technical challenges
  • Liaising directly with clients, managing technical queries and communicating design solutions
  • Attending site visits, supporting the delivery team and resolving issues as they come up during construction
  • Owning technical packages and making sure information is accurate, coordinated and issued on time
  • Following projects from design development through to construction and completion

What’s on offer:

  • £55,000–£65,000 + commission, taking the package to £60,000–£70,000
  • Permanent role with a design-led, growing business
  • Faster project cycles and quicker progression than traditional practice
  • A route towards Design Management should you want it

Requirements:

  • Technical design experience within commercial workplace fit-out, or an architectural background with relevant technical delivery experience
  • Strong Revit skills and confidence producing detailed construction information
  • Good knowledge of RIBA Stages 4 and 5, technical detailing and buildability
  • Experience coordinating multiple disciplines and resolving design issues
  • Confident communicating with clients and comfortable spending time on site
  • Proactive and commercially aware, able to work at pace
