FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Technical Delivery Manager to work for our client within the insurance sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role based in Edinburgh.

Our client is looking for a Technical Delivery Manager to oversee a complex migration programme involving extensive changes to multiple software applications and infrastructure. The role involves working across various work streams such as migration, application change, finance, testing, operational acceptance, infrastructure, and architecture. The successful candidate will bring technical expertise, leadership, and project management skills to understand challenges, manage dependencies, and facilitate technical decisions to ensure the programme's success and the long-term stability of the migrated products.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Programme Management leadership to ensure successful delivery of technical components, meeting scope, time, and quality expectations.
  • Provide guidance on architecture, development practices, and technology choices to delivery teams.
  • Align engineering teams on shared technical goals, dependencies, and integration points.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, design, QA, and other teams for smooth execution.
  • Act as the liaison between programme management, architecture, technical teams, stakeholders, and external partners, articulating technical decisions effectively.
  • Create and maintain cross workstream technical delivery roadmaps supporting plans, timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks early, including tech debt, integration challenges, and performance issues.
  • Lead cross-functional technical teams, ensuring collaboration, accountability, and high performance.
  • Provide regular updates on delivery status, risks, and achievements to senior leadership and stakeholders.
