Qualifications

Job description

We are looking for a Technical Coordinator to join our Wastewater Operations Team.
The Technical Co-ordinator provides relevant technical, administrative and coordination support and is an exciting mix of field and office-based roles within Waste Networks.

As the Technical Co-ordinator for the SSPS Team (Small Sewage Pumping Team), you will be responsible for the management of the pre-requisites (materials, permits, resources and services) for all complex jobs for planned and reactive work across
maintenance and operations.

This role will involve day-to-day contractor liaison and management, input into future planning and solutions, and providing technical support to the wider team.

  • Base location: Maple Lodge STW, Denham Way, Rickmansworth WD3 9SQ
  • Working pattern: Hybrid -36 hours per week, 08:00 – 16:00, Monday-Friday, plus the inclusion on a standby rota for which you will receive additional payment.
  • Full UK Driving License Required.

What you’ll be doing as a Technical Coordinator (Waste Water)
  • Immersing yourself in often unseen and unique infrastructure that serves millions of people.
  • Investigating and reviewing the performance of our Sewage Pumping Stations
  • Responding to asset failures and coordinating resources to return them to service.
  • Liaising with our contractors and suppliers to deliver solutions to problems on our sites.
  • Managing complex work and investigations.
  • Using your experience and technical expertise to directly improve the lives of our customers.
  • Understanding and engaging with a variety of equipment, including but not limited to pumps, valves, pipework, lifting equipment, ultrasonic level sensors, flowmeters, control panels and LV electrical equipment.
  • Providing technical advice and expertise to field staff and 3rd parties. This will include providing detailed instructions and monitoring progress.

What should you bring to the role?
  • Strong administrative experience gained in fast-paced working environments.
  • Previous experience in a water, construction or utilities-based environment.
  • Being qualified to NVQ level, specialised in mechanical or electrical engineering, is highly desirable.
  • You will have extensive experience in a process-related or utility industry, together with a sound working knowledge of the safe systems of work required under the Health and Safety at Work Act.
  • IT literacy is essential as all work is managed through the SAP system (user training for this and other standard software systems will be provided).
  • You will also demonstrate good business/ stakeholder awareness, together with an innovative and creative approach to problem-solving and strong teamwork and influencing skills.

  • Annual Leave:26 days holiday per year, increasing to 30 with the length of service (plus bank holidays)
