Position Summary

Work in a manufacturing laboratory setting using mammalian cell culture practices and techniques. Understand, follow, and complete process documentation in support of GMP. Understand and follow safety policies as it relates to biological and chemical components and equipment to protect personnel and maintain product quality.

Schedule process work flows for host cell and virus processes. Facilitate changes within the area by coordinating them with the team. Maintain leadership while helping a team to achieve GMP standards within the manufacturing area.

Hours: 1st shift, 7:15am – 3:45pm.

Position Responsibilities
  • Perform processes and operate equipment required for production of bulk viral antigen.
  • Understand and apply good cell culture practices as it relates to viral and antibody production. Operate equipment involved in downstream processing of production bulk fluids (e.g., tangential flow filtration, hollow-fiber filtration, sterile filtration, etc.).
  • Using knowledge of bioreactors/fermentors and support equipment, apply skills to identify mechanical problems and maintain equipment.
  • Understand, follow, and complete process documentation in support of GMP. Follow safety policies related to biological and chemical components and equipment.
  • Assist in leading a team by holding teammates accountable. Help solve difficult situations while maintaining professionalism. Escalate issues in absence of Team Lead to upper management.
  • Engage in self-guided work on projects for continuous improvement. Write change controls, SOPs, or investigations.
  • Guide colleagues on projects, SOP updates, or investigations.
  • The level of the job will be determined by the successful candidate.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. BS in Biological sciences preferred. Relevant experience in biological production and/or aseptic manufacturing is a plus.
Technical Skills Requirements
  • Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills. Mammalian cell culture practices desirable. Good communication, interpersonal, and computer skills. Knowledge of bioreactors/fermenters, roller bottles, and aseptic work is preferred. Basic understanding of production processes.
  • Knowledge of Event Tracking System and investigation report writing is preferable.
  • Good relations across ABI and the site are preferred. Experience managing projects and working with multiple individuals. Understanding of SAP, Bill of Materials, and discrepancy investigations.
Physical Position Requirements
  • Exposure to chemicals, fumes, odors, noise, live steam, temperature fluctuations, biohazards. Continuous standing and lifting up to 50 lbs.
