Technical Consultant – Unified Communications (UC) | Pre-Sales & 2nd-Line Support
Focus: Pre-Sales, 2nd-Line Support, and Partner Enablement
Location: Based in Reading, Berkshire | Full-Time | Driving Licence Required
We are recruiting on behalf of a fast-growing UK-based value-added distributor that supports resellers, MSPs, ISPs, and system integrators with high-quality networking, UC, security, and connectivity solutions.
As part of their expanding technical services team, we are seeking ahands-on Technical Consultantto join theirUnified Communications (UC)division. This role combinespre-sales solution design,2nd-line post-sales support, andpartner enablement, with direct engagement across suppliers, internal teams, and channel partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide product and solution guidance to internal sales teams and external partners
- Deliver product demonstrations, attend customer visits, and assist with solution architecture
- Identify upsell opportunities and support account development
- Represent the company at webinars, trade shows, and industry events
- Act as the technical lead for UC product lines
- Maintain up-to-date certifications and knowledge of supplier portfolios
- Support product lifecycle management across technical and commercial teams
Training & Enablement
- Deliver structured technical and product training to internal teams and partners
- Run instructor-led courses (e.g. UC certifications, SIP troubleshooting, Wi-Fi, Wireshark)
- Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to promote training offerings
2nd-Line Technical Support
- Provide advanced support to partners (resellers handle 1st-line)
- Troubleshoot product and configuration issues using documentation, remote tools, and bench testing
- Escalate to suppliers when necessary and contribute to the internal knowledge base
Professional Services & Collaboration
- Support the development and delivery of value-added technical services
- Assist with product returns (limited involvement)
- Collaborate with suppliers and customers as part of the UC Virtual Business Team
Candidate Requirements
- Degree in a computing-related field or equivalent hands-on networking experience
- Strong technical and commercial knowledge of:
- VoIP and Unified Communications
- IP PBX (Appliance / Software / Cloud)
- Enterprise / Multi-cell DECT
- IP phone provisioning and management
- Solid understanding of:
- WAN/DSL routers, switches, VLANs
- Firewalls and VPNs
- Confident in analysing SIP logs, PCAPs, and using tools such as Wireshark
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Experience in customer-facing technical roles
- Ability to manage time and priorities across multiple projects
Additional Requirements
- Must be eligible to work in the UK
- Full UK Driving Licence required
