About The Role Join Our Dynamic Onsite Technical Team at IPL Sittingbourne!

We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for a Technical Compliance Leader to become a vital part of our onsite Technical Team at our Fresh Produce packing facility in Sittingbourne. If you are passionate about Technical/Compliance and eager to contribute to a dynamic team, this role is perfect for you!

Position Details

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5pm Location: IPL Sittingbourne - Site Based Role

Contract Type: Permanent

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that manufacturing unit policies and procedures are regularly updated and managed to maintain compliance with legal and customer compliance.
  • Guide the team in developing and delivering KPI reports and analysis, overseeing results and trends management to initiate investigations that support resolution and prevention. This includes providing KPI data and trends for weekly and monthly reporting and ensuring updates are communicated using washroom screens and site noticeboards.
  • Lead the deployment and utilisation of the quality management system, procedures and policies, within the manufacturing unit, ensuring operational processes are documented and governed using a risk -based approach.
  • Develop and implement an internal audit system to ensure that the manufacturing or business unit aligns with legal and customer requirements. Overseeing the sites internal audit programme covering both systems and practical internal audits, including trending analysis, follow-up and reviewing of corrective and preventative actions. Actively complete internal audits throughout the year.
  • To schedule and deliver key technical reviews related to the quality management system.
  • Work with the STM to deploy the technical strategy, fostering a strong quality culture, and enabling colleagues to maximise their potential. Management of the quarterly Food Safety Ambassador programme, including planning communications and hosting ambassador meetings across the four shifts.
  • Monitor and track non-conformances, including trending analysis, follow-ups and review of corrective and preventative actions.
  • Monitor and evaluate compliance performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Prepare and present compliance reports to SLT and relevant stakeholders.
  • Generation of HACCP minutes and action tracking.
  • Deputise for Site Technical Manager
  • Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to a clean as you go approach following safe working practices.Work effectively and safely by ensuring all practices and procedures are carried out in accordance with the company Health & Safety guidelines including reporting accidents, incidents and near misses.

What are we looking for?

  • Demonstrates experience, at technologist level, of working with a retailer; Expertise in interpretation of customer code of practice; Competent in the use of customer technical databases
  • Demonstrates experience of maintaining an internal audit program
  • Demonstrates experience of maintaining a Quality Management System
  • Demonstrates experience of technical strategy implementation
  • Demonstrates experience of delivery of BRC certification and / or equivalent certification standards
  • Demonstrates experience of using Root Cause Analysis techniques for problem solving
  • Ability to evaluate and interpret shelf life results
  • Demonstrates expertise of applying food legislation to manufacturing products
  • Degree calibre Relevant Food Science, Food Technology or Microbiological qualification
  • Advanced Food Hygiene level 4 or equivalent
  • Level 3 HACCP certified and Level 2 Health and Safety
  • Sensory Training Level 2
  • Basic allergen awareness / practical knowledge of the management of allergens
