Job description

A key drive for Thames Water to ensure the sustainability of our asset base is to ensure that all projects and/or repairs are delivered in line with our asset standards.

The Technical Compliance Advisor role is part of a new function to build on existing quality assurance processes. This new role will support operational teams in improving quality compliance and value for money.

This is a very varied role with a good mix of field-based and office-based reviews.

Field-based reviews will include attending the site to assess the work done against the scope of work and any relevant standards. Office-based reviews will include reviewing images of work done and data analysis for higher volume, low-value work.

What you will be doing as a Technical Compliance Advisor

  • Building relationships is a key part of the role of working with operational colleagues and suppliers in reviewing procedures and operational delivery against industry standards/best practices.
  • Where necessary, the Technical Compliance Advisor will work with various stakeholders and experts to produce guidance documents to introduce consistent standards across all our work.
  • The Technical Compliance Advisor will be naturally inquisitive, always looking for ways to improve compliance with asset/industry standards and deliver the best value for money.
  • With a starter-finisher mindset, this role will use its tenacity to ensure that improvements are embedded.
  • There will be a strong network of support within the operational commercial function, allowing improvements to be made at pace with access to contract managers, quantity surveyors and senior managers.
  • The existing system is highly dynamic with the ability to flex resources to meet demands. This adaptability will be a key attribute for the technical compliance advisor to embrace and embed more widely.

Location – You will be working all across the Thames Water patch. Suitable candidates can be based across London (North, East, South, West) and the Thames Valley. (Reading, Newbury, Swindon & Oxford)

Working Hours – 36 hours per week.

What you should bring to the role
  • Strong organisation and communication skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proactive and flexible. High-quality report writing.
  • Inquisitive.
  • High level of commercial acumen.
  • Excellent MS Excel skills.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting construction drawings/asset standards.
  • Interpersonal skills/building relationships.
  • Knowledge of construction techniques.
  • Methodical approach to quality assurance.
  • Knowledge of wastewater is ideal but not essential.
  • Knowledge of Salesforce is ideal but not essential.
