Job Description:
Pro currently has an exciting opportunity for a Technical Claims Manager to join our Legacy claims team on a permanent basis. As a technical lead, this role will drive the technical excellence of the team and involve formulating and delivering Pro’s Value-Add proposition to clients.
Pro has UK office locations in London, Glasgow, Gloucester, Horsham, and Liverpool, with a flexible working policy regarding location and remote work. The post holder may need to travel between these locations as necessary.
Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload involving high-value, complex asbestos-related disease, and other respiratory claims.
- Oversee technical claims performance of the team.
- Identify and implement targeted Technical Claims Value-Add strategies, measuring their success and presenting recommendations to the Head of Strategy.
- Develop data points and reports with the Specialist Claims Analyst to monitor Pro’s Value-Add Proposition.
- Promote a culture of excellence through quality assurance, controls, training, coaching, and feedback.
- Own the Quality Assurance and Quality Control functions within the team.
- Ensure timely and standard-compliant QA/QC activities, and maintain Technical PDPs for team members.
- Provide technical advice and guidance to colleagues and act as a referral point for complex or high-value claims.
- Contribute to PR campaigns, thought leadership articles, blogs, and website content.
- Manage team projects related to Pro’s claims proposition.
- Support business development efforts and participate as a Claims SME in relevant activities.
- Analyze and comment on routine MI and ad hoc reports to deliver value to clients.
- Represent Pro at market forums and consultations, advocating for client interests.
- Contribute to PLF Audit and supplier Quality Control frameworks.
- Liaise with solicitors and brokers, maintain records for audits and regulations, identify potential fraud, and provide external technical guidance.
Experience and skills
- Minimum 10 years’ experience managing EL/PL Legacy Claims, including NID, HAVs, and Pleural Plaques.
- Strong understanding of legal concepts such as Duty, Breach, Causation, and Limitation; capable of assessing Quantum and Apportionment.
- Experience with other claim types is advantageous.
- Good policy interpretation skills.
- Ability to meet Service Level Agreements.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Knowledge of claims handling, quality assurance, fraud, and relevant legislation for strategic decision-making.
- Professional communication skills with high-value, high-profile claims handling experience.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Coaching and mentoring skills.
- Adaptability to change.
- Understanding of the legal system in England & Wales, including CPR and pre-action protocols; knowledge of Scottish and Northern Irish systems is a plus.
