Job description

NES Fircroft are working with a world leader in metallurgical plant solutions who are looking to appoint a Technical Buyer/Estimator to join their Scunthorpe office.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the procurement of parts and services for jobs that are being done by the workshop.

You will work closely with the Sales Engineer and Operations Manager and be involved in obtaining and negotiating prices of materials and services, generation of purchase orders, and follow-up with suppliers on outstanding orders, making sure that procurement from suppliers takes place within the required price and time. You will also assist with the creation of estimates for customer enquiries.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

These will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure manufacturing, quality, delivery, and price are in line with the requirements of the enquiry or customer project/order deadlines.
  • Generate purchase orders to the required standards and in line with company policies and make sure suppliers receive, understand, and accept these.
  • Maintain and support healthy supplier relationships through personal contact.
  • Support product development strategies to maximise standardisation of product and ensure high volume/value engineering manufacture is achieved.
  • Prepare costings for incoming enquiries.
  • Report and discuss on a regular basis with the Sales Engineer and Operations Manager about the progress, problems, and proposed resolutions with a view to facilitating a successful customer project/order or proposal.


REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Prior experience in Technical Buying/Procurement.
  • Commercial awareness.
  • Knowledge of supplier relationships.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment juggling and prioritising multiple tasks.
  • Strong spoken and written communication skills.
  • Computer literate (SAP, MS Office).
  • Awareness of differing international cultures (desirable).
  • Flexibility to travel occasionally to supplier and other sites.

Must have current UK Driving Licence, as well as the right to live and work in the UK and travel internationally without restrictions, if required, occasionally at short notice.
