Our client — a
global leader in industrial engineering and manufacturing solutions — is looking to hire a
Technical Buyer/Estimator to join their team in
Scunthorpe.
You’ll play a critical role in
supporting project delivery by managing the procurement of materials and services, building strong supplier relationships, and contributing to cost estimations for incoming enquiries.
What You’ll Be Doing- Raising and managing purchase orders from engineering drawings and BOMs.
- Negotiating prices and lead times with suppliers across materials and services.
- Ensuring that all procurement aligns with project budgets and timelines.
- Supporting sales and operations teams in preparing cost estimates for new enquiries.
- Maintaining open and positive communication with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
- Occasionally visiting suppliers or other UK sites (approx. once per month).
What We’re Looking For Prior experience in
technical procurement or estimating.
Ability to
read mechanical drawings and work with
bills of materials (BOMs).
Good commercial awareness and
strong supplier negotiation skills.
Understanding of
heavy fabrication materials and manufacturing processes.
Proficient with
SAP and Microsoft Office tools.
Strong communication and relationship-building abilities.
Full UK driving licence (essential).
Awareness of international working cultures is a bonus.
