Linklaters, a global law firm based in London, seeks an experienced technical and building services leader to own and optimize our UK estate. Based in London, you’ll lead the services, systems and supplier partnerships that keep our buildings safe, sustainable and operating at their best.

You’ll oversee hard and soft facilities management, shape long‑term strategy for building performance, and drive innovation while developing the team.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Leading technical and facilities management services across our UK offices.
• Overseeing M&E engineering, fabric maintenance, BMS, CAFM, maintenance, energy metering and security systems.
• Managing cleaning, security, waste, plants, moves, signage and wayfinding.
• Building strong supplier relationships and driving KPI/SLA performance.
• Ensuring health and safety, building regulations and ESG standards.
• Leading and developing the team and driving continuous service improvements.

The role:

This is a high-profile opportunity to take ownership of technical and building services across Linklaters’ UK estate. Based in London, you’ll lead the services, systems and supplier partnerships that keep our buildings safe, sustainable and operating at their best.

Acting as the senior point of contact for building-related matters, you’ll oversee a broad portfolio spanning hard and soft facilities management, while shaping the longer-term strategy for building performance, service quality and sustainability.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Leading technical and facilities management services across our UK offices
• Overseeing mechanical and electrical engineering, fabric maintenance, BMS, CAFM, planned and reactive maintenance, energy metering and technical security systems
• Managing services including cleaning, security, waste, pest control, plants, porterage, moves, signage and wayfinding
• Building strong supplier relationships and driving performance against agreed KPIs and SLAs
• Ensuring compliance with health and safety, building regulations and environmental standards
• Leading BREEAM and WELL management in support of the firm’s ESG commitments
• Managing budgets, service charges and utilities, identifying efficiencies and ensuring value for money
• Developing long‑term improvement plans and leading change with minimal disruption to the business
• Driving innovation and automation to continuously improve service delivery
• Leading and developing the team, supporting resilience, succession planning and professional growth

You’ll join a collaborative global Operations function where you’ll have the opportunity to influence strategy, lead meaningful improvements and make a visible impact on the experience of our people and clients.

What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for an experienced technical and building services leader who can combine strong engineering knowledge with commercial judgement, strategic thinking and a genuine commitment to service excellence.

You’ll bring:

• Significant experience leading building or facilities management across a complex estate, ideally within a global professional services environment
• A strong technical and engineering background across mechanical and electrical services
• Experience managing both hard and soft facilities management services
• Working knowledge of BMS, CAFM, PPM regimes, energy metering and lighting controls
• Recognised health and safety expertise, ideally supported by a relevant professional qualification
• A strong track record in supplier, contract and performance management
• Experience managing budgets, controlling costs and delivering measurable value
• The confidence to resolve complex supplier issues and build effective, long‑term partnerships
• Knowledge of building sustainability, environmental performance and wellbeing standards
• Proven people leadership experience, with a focus on development, resilience and succession planning
