Job Description:

The Role

As a Technical Authority - RF and EW, you will have a role that is out of the ordinary. You will join our highly technical, multi-disciplined, and enthusiastic engineers and project managers delivering the Systems Engineering aspects of identified Systems, Subordinate Systems & Components for projects across the IDT.

The projects under this IDT span a diverse range, from pure research through to product development and deployment. Recent projects include specification, development, and delivery of underwater signature measurement ranges, radar cross section measurement systems, high-security classification networks and databases, specialist test systems, and electronic warfare test systems.

Day-to-day, you will be responsible for:

  • Setting the technical strategy, including Product Roadmaps, for the portfolio and delivering against challenging objectives in line with the Integrated Strategic Business Plan (ISBP).
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers, partners, and colleagues at senior management levels to support growth and successful delivery.
  • Forming and leading a team of Engineering Delivery Managers, System Design Authorities, and Product Owners from across the company. Success depends on your ability to motivate teams to deliver quality outcomes for new and existing customers.
  • Defining technical maturation and tracking progress against requirements to ensure delivery on time, within budget, and to quality standards.

This is a full-time permanent role with hybrid and flexible working options. Some travel will be involved, including Range visits and collaboration across UK sites with partner teams and companies.

Essential experience for the Technical Authority - RF and EW:

  • Experience managing multiple multi-disciplinary teams across remote sites.
  • Coordination and maturation tracking of work within a project portfolio.
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of how an IDT and portfolio contribute to the business, including knowledge of competitors.
  • Experience managing successful sub-contracts to meet time, cost, and quality targets.
  • Proven experience delivering complex systems and products.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Science or Engineering, or equivalent professional qualification, with extensive on-the-job experience and a track record of achievement in the domain.
  • A full clean UK driving licence.
  • Adaptive and flexible working approach.
  • Benefits include Health Cash Plan, Private Medical and Dental Insurance, Matched contribution pension scheme with life assurance, Employee discount portal, Holiday Trading, support for Armed Forces community, Payroll Giving, and Volunteering.

Our volunteering programme allows our staff to use their skills to support local communities, including STEM ambassador days in schools. We also support charities important to our employees, especially those aiding the defence community.
