Job summary

MASS is seeking an experienced Technical Authority to join on-site in Corsham, Wiltshire, in a permanent full-time role. The position offers a salary range of £62,000 to £72,000 per year with Developed Vetting clearance to start and a comprehensive benefits package.

The role requires strong experience in infrastructure, networks, and platform engineering within a complex environment, plus the ability to lead teams and mentor engineers.

Qualifications

  • Experience in infrastructure, networks, or platform engineering in a complex environment.
  • Demonstrated senior technical escalation authority.
  • Deep understanding of change, incident, and problem management processes.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable explanations.
  • Experience leading or mentoring technical teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management with constructive challenge and influence.
  • Sole UK national eligible to work in the UK and able to obtain DV clearance.
  • Desirable: familiarity with ITIL principles and governance frameworks.
  • Desirable: exposure to secure-by-design or compliance-driven delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, technical assurance, and strategic direction across infrastructure and network services.
  • Serve as the final escalation point for complex technical decisions.
  • Review and assure infrastructure, network, and platform designs.
  • Ensure solutions are secure, supportable, and aligned with standards.
  • Maintain visibility of performance, risk, and lifecycle health across domains.
  • Lead and mentor network and infrastructure engineers, promoting strong practices.
  • Support workload prioritisation and operational improvements.
  • Contribute to long-term technology roadmaps and identify risks and opportunities.
  • Track emerging technologies and recommend value-adding adoption.
  • Lead change management elements and provide expert input to CAB.
  • Drive governance process improvements and embed lessons learned.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and coordinate long-term remediation of incidents.
  • Work with teams to reduce technical debt and increase platform stability.
  • Drive proactive risk reduction across infrastructure and networks.
  • Act as technical authority in customer/partner discussions.
  • Review supplier designs and proposals for standard alignment.
  • Represent the organisation in governance forums with confidence.
  • Mentor engineers, identify skills gaps, and shape training plans.
  • Promote high-quality engineering and secure-by-design practices.

Job description

Salary: £41,500 - 68,500 per year

Requirements

  • Desirable: exposure to security-focused environments, secure-by-design, or compliance-driven delivery.
