Technical Author

Location: Greater London, UK

Position: Permanent Hire

We are looking for an experienced Aerospace or Defence sector Technical Author to join a leading Aerospace Company in the Greater London area. You will be crucial in creating technical publications, acceptance test procedures, and build plans for our world-leading, safety-critical products.

What You’ll Do:

  • Write and research technical publications using engineering drawings, CAD models, and production standards.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues by liaising with relevant departments.
  • Define and specify illustration requirements to meet industry standards.
  • Facilitate, demonstrate, and validate using appropriate equipment and techniques.
  • Proofread documents to meet quality standards and task deadlines.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong listening and communication skills.
  • Experience with desktop publishing software (e.g., FrameMaker).
  • Proficiency in SGML, XML, and DITA.
  • Aerospace engineering experience, preferably in a military context.
  • Commitment to high standards and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Simplified English.
  • Practical experience in mechanical engineering and technical authorship.

Qualifications:

  • City & Guilds 5360 Part 1 & 2 (Engineering, Technical Communication and Authoring) or equivalent.
