Job summary

Thompson Aero Seating in Banbridge is seeking a Technical Author responsible for producing technical documentation for in-service products. You will collaborate with various departments to create maintenance and training documentation.

The ideal candidate will have a relevant degree in Manufacturing or Engineering, strong technical writing skills, and the ability to convey information clearly. The role offers a competitive salary and numerous employee benefits.

Qualifications

• Degree in Manufacturing/Engineering or equivalent experience in Engineering.
• Ability to apply technical knowledge to practical problems.
• Understanding of authoring software and practices.
• Strong skills in gathering information and research.
• Ability to convey technical content clearly in writing.
• Excellent communication skills with stakeholders.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Produce Component Maintenance Manuals to ATA iSpec 2200 standard.
• Create training manuals for crew and maintenance personnel.
• Work with engineering to produce Installation Documentation.
• Manage workload to ensure timely delivery of documentation.
• Create Service Bulletins for design changes.
• Provide advisory information via Service Information Letters.
• Implement changes through Temporary Revisions in manuals.

Job description

The post holders will be responsible for producing technical documentation to support products in-service. As a Technical Author, you will be working with various other departments to accumulate the required information to create accurate and clear maintenance and training documentation.

Responsibilities

• Producing Component Maintenance Manuals to the ATA iSpec 2200 standard
• Producing training manuals for both crew and maintenance personnel
• Working with the engineering design team to produce Installation Documentation to the standard determined by the Aircraft OEM
• Managing workload to ensure on‑time delivery of all documentation
• Creating Service Bulletins to implement design changes on current in‑service programs
• Creating Service Information Letters to provide advisory information or maintenance clarification for current in‑service programs
• Creating Temporary Revisions to implement changes to maintenance data and/or parts within the Component Maintenance Manual
• Attending project milestones and customer meetings as required

Qualifications

Essential

• Relevant Degree within Manufacturing/Engineering or relevant experience in an Engineering discipline
• A high level of technical and scientific knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to practical problems
• A good understanding of authoring software and standard authoring practices
• Strong background in gathering information and research
• Ability to clearly convey technical content in the written form, particularly in the form of maintenance instructions
• Excellent communication skills and confidence in dealing with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office
• The ability to work on own initiative but also as part of a team
