JOB TITLE: TECHNICAL AUTHOR

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the documents that require updating and determine the best approach to delivering them.
• Undertake a first-pass review of documents, including:
• Agree on the scope and methodology with client, sponsor, or technical authority.
• Facilitate reviews and chair meetings as appropriate with owners and SME’s.
• Pursue any further changes or clarifications in line with the plan agreed upon and update document as required.
• Circulate updated draft, solicit feedback, and finalize documents.
• Undertake reporting at each stage of the process to ensure progress is suitably understood and allow escalation process to take place.
• Ensures the quality of all documents produced.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

• Knowledge of standard Microsoft products (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
• Experience working to tight deadlines.
• Demonstrable job coordination and administration skills.
• Ability to deliver high-quality documentation, paying attention to detail.
• Self-starter with the ability to work on their own initiative and meet tight deadlines.
• Teamwork and the ability to drive progress.
• Previous experience in the oil and gas industry.
• Proven working experience in technical writing.
• Can use plain English that is faster to write and faster to read and can successfully convey the message across different mediums.
• Has the ability to define process workflows and facilitate information gathering when required, making the best use of the contributors’ time.
• Can effectively communicate at all levels of the organization, utilizing different approaches dependent on the audience and purpose.
• Can make connections from multiple sources of information and be creative in the approaches taken and idea generation.
