Job summary

The Niakan Lab at University of Cambridge is seeking a part-time technical assistant to support our early-stage research in human biology and reproduction. The post involves collecting bovine ovaries from an abattoir and returning them to the Cambridge laboratory (rental car provided) for on-site processing.

Working Tue and Wed 9:00–12:30, with on-the-job training, you will follow a strict schedule, demonstrate careful attention to detail, and communicate clearly in English.

Job description

The Niakan Lab at University of Cambridge is seeking a technical assistant to join our team. This post will support pioneering research projects to provide fundamental insights into human biology and reproduction. The primary responsibility of this position is to drive to collect bovine ovaries from an abattoir and bring them back to our laboratory in Cambridge (rental car will be provided). The postholder will dissect discarded animal tissue at the abattoir and place them in a collection container to bring back to our laboratory in Cambridge.

The candidate must be able to work independently and follow a strict schedule. They will have a good level of oral communication, a high standard of English, and the ability to give and receive written and verbal instructions. A high attention to detail and reliability is a must. The successful candidate will have a good general education or equivalent level of practical experience and will require a valid driver's license. All training will be provided on the job and it is a great opportunity to learn skills in a scientific laboratory.

This post is part time, fixed term for 6 months. The hours of work will be 9:00am - 12:30pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays each week.
