Soho House Manchester

Located in the St John’s area in the heart of the city, Soho House Manchester spans across 5 floors of the former Granada Studios. Facilities include an extensive gym, steam room, sauna, outdoor rooftop pool with sunbeds and a bar, late-night bar, live music space, casual lounge areas, a members’ restaurant, and 23 bedrooms.

The Role…

Our Technical Assistants play a key role in ensuring seamless experiences for members, guests, and staff across venues. You will manage cinemas, support staff with technical needs, assist on projects, and provide AV support for events, including mixing, video playback, recordings, lighting, and live music.

A successful Technician is self-motivated, quick-thinking, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. You should be a critical thinker with excellent people skills and a knack for troubleshooting.

What We Are Looking For?

  • Willingness to learn and develop both independently and as part of a team with in-house training.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask and troubleshoot quickly under pressure.
  • Familiarity with Digital Projection Equipment or similar.
  • Technical competence supporting computers, internet, software, and network security.
  • Experience with AV lighting, sound, minor repairs, and installation of AV equipment.
  • Flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Knowledge of sound systems, DJ decks, mixing desks, phone systems, IPTV infrastructure.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.

Main Duties…

  • Operate cinema equipment across film and digital formats, liaise with clients, and assist with presentation setups.
  • Monitor and maintain in-house equipment, diagnose issues, and liaise with service engineers.
  • Support audio, visual, and IT troubleshooting, ensuring proper setup for events.
  • Respond promptly to guest needs and provide solutions.
  • Conduct routine checks, audits, and site visits, and document ongoing projects.
  • Maintain safety standards, cleanliness, and organization.
  • Coordinate with couriers, print managers, and stay updated on technical developments.
  • Evaluate and flag software/hardware issues, ensuring compliance with legal and safety standards.
  • Use ITSM tools (Cherwell) for incident tracking and reporting.
  • Focus on continuous improvement and support global IT support collaboration.
  • Provide L1 & L2 support for business applications, network, AV equipment, and building access systems.

Expected Working Hours

  • This role may require nights and weekends to support screenings and events.
