Job description

Job Summary:

The Technical Assistant position offers an exciting opportunity for a technically skilled individual who enjoys problem solving and is passionate about cutting-edge technology. The role involves supporting all aspects of production at ILM, providing direct assistance to artists and production staff, and collaborating closely with production and software engineers to ensure the success and efficiency of the production pipeline.

What You’ll Do:

  1. Troubleshoot and solve problems related to layout, animation, lighting, and post-production workflows.
  2. Handle images/media, including conversion, manipulation, quality control, and playback for visual reviews.
  3. Manage rendering processes and queue management.
  4. Oversee data management, including monitoring disk space, file transfers, and quality assurance.
  5. Communicate effectively between artists, production, and technical teams to resolve issues promptly.
  6. Perform data archival and restoration tasks.
  7. Automate routine tasks and generate reports to enhance production pipeline efficiency.

What We’re Looking For:

  1. Experience in Computer Science or equivalent background.
  2. Artistic skills or aesthetic sensibility are highly desirable.
  3. Proficiency with Windows and UNIX/Linux operating systems.
  4. Professional programming experience in C/C++ and scripting experience in Python and Perl.
  5. Familiarity with 3D software such as Maya is highly preferred.
  6. Knowledge of film, video, animation post-production, or computer graphics techniques is highly desirable.
  7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with diverse personalities.
  8. Strong time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  9. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  10. Motivated with a clear career focus in animation, visual effects, or gaming industries.

Note: This role is hybrid, requiring a minimum of 2 days per week on-site at a designated location, with occasional remote work.
