Technical Assistant

Two Roles Available - 18 Month Fixed Term with possibility of permanence

Location: Felling, Gateshead, Tyne & Wear NE10 0JY

Job Purpose

Support R&D projects by developing new products and technologies, understanding key coating attributes, or testing/supporting existing technologies, products, and processes.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Design, develop, execute, evaluate, and interpret experiments using best practices.
  2. Conduct experimental and standard paint manufacturing, QA, testing, and application.
  3. Manage planning and daily activities for assigned projects.
  4. Compile results and produce reports.
  5. Recommend next steps and communicate key findings to colleagues.
  6. Participate in trials and inspections.
  7. Identify areas for improvement and generate ideas for projects.
  8. Work safely and comply with legal and company regulations.
Job Requirements
  • Secondary education and 6 BCF Level 3, NACE 1, City & Guilds or equivalent.
  • Experience in a busy laboratory environment.
  • Practical coatings skills, including manufacturing, QA, testing, and application.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in basic Paint Maths for adjustments and calculations.
