Job description

Are you a Technical Assistant looking to develop your career in a major paper product manufacturer based at our site in Grantham?

We are seeking a Technical Assistant to ensure the maintenance of high technical standards within the factory, facilitate communication of technical and quality matters across departments, and ensure we meet and exceed customer expectations.

This role involves working Monday to Friday, 38.75 hours per week.

This is a fixed-term position.

About the Role

Responsibilities include:

  1. Developing and updating work instructions and product specifications for site teams.
  2. Covering QA duties as required, including material intake and detailed line checks.
  3. Generating internal specifications aligned with customer requirements.
  4. Managing the NCR system, coordinating with procurement on issues, trials, and concessions.
  5. Closing out non-conformances from external audits.
  6. Ensuring equipment calibration and managing onsite calibration arrangements.
  7. Handling customer complaints, maintaining databases, and analyzing trends.
  8. Investigating complaints and implementing corrective actions.
  9. Performing scheduled internal/GMP audits.
  10. Preparing documentation for factory product launches.
  11. Completing system audits as required.
  12. Driving the resolution of external audit non-conformances.
  13. Ensuring compliance with customer codes of practice.
  14. Conducting traceability and business continuity tests, closing out actions.
  15. Providing training to ensure compliance.
  16. Maintaining technical communication across departments.
  17. Preparing for and ensuring audit compliance.
  18. Data entry and management on spreadsheets, including integrity, environmental, and KPI data.
  19. Collaborating with the team on continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives.

Requirements

Experience:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • At least 2 years manufacturing experience, preferably in a technical role.

Desirable:

  • Experience in the food industry and manufacturing.
  • HACCP Level 1 certification.
  • Internal auditing experience.
  • Knowledge of specifications and customer portals (training provided).
  • Understanding of BRC and other customer codes of practice.
  • Training experience.
