ROLE: Technical Assessor – Hazardous Waste Management
CLIENT: A leader in hazardous waste management, operating a state-of-the-art treatment facility, is seeking a desk-based Technical Assessor to join their dynamic team, serving a wide range of clients.
PACKAGE:
Salary: £30,000 – £35,000
LOCATION: Flexible – remote working or office-based in Chester, Cardiff, or Reading
RELEVANT PREVIOUS ROLES: Site Chemist, Process Chemist, Technical Assessor, Transfer Station Chemist, Laboratory Technician, Shift Chemist, Hazardous Waste Assessor, Graduate
RELEVANT INDUSTRIES: Hazardous Waste (Drummed, Bulky, Chemical, Radioactive, Acids, Solvents, Nuclear, Toxic, Oily Rags, Paints, Liquids, Sludge, Flammable), Soil Remediation
ROLE OVERVIEW:
As a Technical Assessor, you will:
Utilize your Chemistry expertise to assess incoming waste streams based on sales team data.
Accurately classify waste and calculate disposal costs, applying essential WM3 code knowledge.
Perform desk-based analysis, leveraging theoretical Chemistry knowledge (no lab work required).
Engage with clients to understand their needs and deliver customized solutions.
EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS:
Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Ideally, experience in client-facing roles.
Minimum HNC in Chemistry (or higher); Biology or Forensics may be considered with sufficient Chemistry modules above HNC level.
At least 1 year of experience in heavy industry or hazardous waste management.
Knowledge of relevant sectors, including hazardous waste (e.g., drummed, bulky, chemical, radioactive, acids, solvents, nuclear, toxic, oily rags, paints, liquids, sludge, flammable) or soil treatment.
