Universal-Business-Team is seeking a Technical Area Sales Manager to cover London, Kent and East Anglia. You will blend new business development with technical consultation and specification-led selling to deliver pumping solutions.
You will engage early in design, navigate complex regulatory requirements and ensure shortlisted solutions meet project needs, while building trusted advisor relationships with housebuilders, developers and consultants.
Not all pumping solutions are the same. In a highly technical, compliance-driven market, selecting the right product can make a significant difference to the success of a construction project.
We are working with a specialist pumping solutions business to recruit a Technical Area Sales Manager to grow its business across London, Kent and East Anglia, working with housebuilders, developers, contractors and consultants on residential developments and wider construction projects.
This is a specialist, consultative sales role where technical understanding, regulatory compliance and finding the right solution for the customer are at the heart of the sales process. You'll help customers navigate complex requirements, influence specifications early in the design stage and ensure proposed pumping station solutions meet the needs of their development.
Rather than simply competing on price, you'll build your credibility by understanding the detail, providing informed guidance and helping customers make the right technical decisions.
Experience in pumping, drainage or wastewater would be a real advantage, but we're also interested in technically minded sales professionals from other industries who enjoy solving problems and are motivated to develop specialist knowledge.
You'll take ownership of sales across your territory, combining new business development with technical consultation and specification-led selling.
Your responsibilities will include:
We're looking for someone who can combine commercial awareness with the confidence to engage with technically demanding products and customer requirements.
You don't need to be a pumping station expert from day one. Industry experience is advantageous, but the business is open to candidates with a broader technical sales background who have the aptitude to learn, the curiosity to understand complex products and the confidence to build trust with customers.
You'll cover London, Kent and East Anglia, spending approximately 2-3 days per week visiting customers, developing relationships and progressing opportunities.
The business's head office is in Hull, and someone within reasonable commuting distance would be ideal. However, hybrid working arrangements can be considered for the right candidate.
You'll receive structured training across the business's products, technical design, estimating and operations, alongside practical site visits to understand how pumping stations are installed and commissioned.
You'll develop the specialist knowledge needed to advise customers on product selection, understand the adoption process and recognise the technical considerations that can affect a development.
You'll also have the support of internal technical specialists, allowing you to build your expertise and provide customers with informed, solutions-led advice.
This is an opportunity to join a business where technical knowledge is central to the value delivered to customers.
You’ll be selling more than a product. You’ll be helping customers navigate complex requirements, make informed decisions and identify pumping solutions suited to their individual projects.
For someone who enjoys technical problem-solving, building long-term relationships and winning business through expertise rather than price alone, this offers a distinctive opportunity to develop a successful territory in the construction sector.
