Job summary

Consult is seeking a Technical Architect to ensure that architectural decisions align with business and IT strategies. You will lead application architecture activities for transitioned services, run workshops with diverse teams, and validate supportability and operational readiness across the engagement.

The role focuses on governance, risk management, and ensuring robust documentation for secure, resilient service delivery within a complex managed environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead application architecture discovery and due diligence for transitioned services.
• Conduct architecture workshops with owners, SMEs, infrastructure, security, and ops teams.
• Assess architecture, integrations, security controls, resilience, DR, and BC capabilities.
• Produce and maintain architecture artefacts: dependency maps, supportability assessments, risk registers, transition reports.
• Identify architectural risks, technical debt and operational dependencies impacting service transition or support.
• Define remediation actions and transition exit criteria for service acceptance.
• Collaborate with client stakeholders, incumbents and internal teams to document dependencies and knowledge transfer.
• Document ownership models, escalation paths, recovery responsibilities, and support boundaries for service design.
• Ensure architecture and operational documentation are aligned for managed service operations.
• Provide architectural governance throughout transition, onboarding and service acceptance.

Role Purpose / Summary

As a Technical Architect, you will be responsible for ensuring that technical decisions align with business and IT strategies, with a focus on the technical aspects of solutions, including:

• Leading application architecture discovery and due diligence activities for transitioned services.
• Conducting architecture workshops with application owners, SMEs, infrastructure, security, and operational teams to validate application supportability and operational readiness.
• Assessing application architecture, integrations, security controls, resilience, disaster recovery, and business continuity capabilities.
• Producing and maintaining architecture assessment artefacts including dependency maps, supportability assessments, risk registers, and transition readiness reports.
• Identifying architectural risks, technical debt and operational dependencies that may impact service transition or ongoing support.
• Defining remediation actions and transition exit criteria required for service acceptance.
• Collaborating with client stakeholders, incumbent suppliers, and internal delivery teams to facilitate knowledge transfer and document critical application dependencies.
• Supporting operational service design by documenting ownership models, escalation paths, recovery responsibilities, and support boundaries.
• Ensuring architecture documentation, support documentation and operational procedures are aligned and fit for managed service operations.
• Providing architectural governance throughout transition, onboarding, and service acceptance activities.

Skills And Experience Required

10+ years of professional experience leading the design, modernisation, and delivery of scalable enterprise solutions. This includes deep technical expertise in the Microsoft ecosystem, familiarity with industry standards, and strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.

Key Competencies For This Role Include

• Experience leading application transition, onboarding, or service transformation activities within managed service environments.
• Strong understanding of application supportability, operational readiness, and service acceptance criteria.
• Experience assessing and documenting application integrations, APIs, authentication mechanisms, service accounts, certificates, and secrets management.
• Knowledge of identity and access management technologies including Active Directory, Entra ID, service principals and managed identities.
• Experience with resilience, disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity assessments.
• Strong understanding of service management concepts including Incident, Problem, Change and Major Incident Management.
• Experience facilitating architecture workshops and engaging with technical and business stakeholders to gather and validate information.
• Ability to identify and manage technical debt, operational risks, and architectural dependencies.
• Experience producing architecture assessment reports, transition plans, assumption logs, and risk registers.

Soft Skills

• Ability to facilitate workshops and drive consensus across multiple stakeholder groups.
• Strong analytical and investigative skills with the ability to identify gaps in documentation and operational knowledge.
• Comfortable working in ambiguous environments and building architecture artefacts from incomplete information.
