The Technical Architect will work with development teams to support the detailed implementation of Solution Architecture designs on a day-to-day basis. The architect should act as a conduit and ambassador between architecture and development, translating designs into working software solutions and ensuring alignment with architectural principles and design patterns.
Key accountabilities:
- Provide deep specialist knowledge of relevant technologies for UCAS engineering teams, including coaching and mentoring.
- Produce and document detailed low-level technical software and interface specifications from solution architecture designs, following governance procedures.
- Collaborate with development teams and architects to ensure clear understanding of designs and resolve implementation details in line with strategic targets.
- Ensure services and components adhere to architecture principles, standards, policies, and engineering guardrails.
- Develop prototypes and undertake evaluation work to support solution architecture design.
- Create and maintain necessary technical documentation for internal and external audiences.
Skills, qualifications, and experience:
- Five or more years of experience in software development for high-scale, resilient, secure cloud-based web applications with API-led connectivity, or equivalent expertise.
- Demonstrable software design skills.
- Highly organized, capable of working with and influencing peers at a high technical level.
- Degree in a relevant computing discipline or equivalent professional experience.
- Ability to build positive, productive relationships with stakeholders and business partners.
- Excellent communication skills, effective with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience working successfully in a dynamic, large-scale agile environment with multiple technologies.
- Adaptability in working methods and approaches.
Desirable knowledge includes:
- Microsoft technologies (Azure, O365, SharePoint, Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS) and .Net architectures (.Net Core/.Net 6.0+, Web API, MVC).
- Java technologies (Java, JSP, Servlets).
- Database technologies (Oracle, SQL Server, Postgres, MySQL).
- Understanding of AWS products and services, including application integration experience.
