Job summary

Sun Chemical seeks a Primer and Coating Application Specialist – EMEA to deploy primer and coating strategies for HP Indigo customers, with scope to support other digital printing technologies.

This customer-facing role works with Technology, Product Management and Technical Service teams to gain approvals, provide advisory support on primers and coatings, and to train Sun Chemical staff across EMEA.

Qualifications

• Education: Technical Degree (BS).
• Experience in the printing industry with pressroom knowledge.
• Expert in HP Indigo printing technology; experience running/supporting HP Indigo presses for Label & Packaging.
• Ideally trained to HP Indigo Press Operator Level 2 or 3.
• Previous experience with Flexo UV coatings.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• This is Sun Chemical expert role within EMEA for HP Indigo matters.
• Facilitate and manage HP Indigo primer conversions at customer sites and remotely.
• Support and oversee new product introductions, customer troubleshooting and recommendations.
• Train and educate Sun Chemical Technical Service organization across EMEA to support HP Indigo customers locally.
• Define optimum press parameters and media profiling; document best practices for primers and coatings.
• Manage trial activities for new business opportunities.
• Coordinate with internal teams to provide fitness-for-use guidance and resolve customer issues.
• Participate in strategic technical meetings and process improvement initiatives.
• Report all field activity and complete technical documentation.

About the Role

The global market for coatings and varnishes used on digital presses is growing rapidly, creating exciting opportunities for Sun Chemical. We are introducing a new role: Primer and Coating Application Specialist – EMEA, a technical support position focused on deploying primer and coating strategies for HP Indigo customers, with scope to support other digital printing technologies.

This is a customer-facing role that will work closely with Technology teams, Product Management, Technical Service teams, and HP Indigo field engineers to gain customer approvals and provide advisory support on primer, coatings and adhesives.

Key Responsibilities

• This is Sun Chemical expert role within EMEA for any HP Indigo related matters.
• Facilitate and manage HP Indigo primer conversions at customer sites and remotely.
• Support and overlook new product introductions, customer troubleshooting and product recommendations based on end use requirements.
• Train and educate Sun Chemical Technical Service organization across EMEA to support HP Indigo customers locally with primer conversion, troubleshooting and coating selection.
• Define optimum press parameters and media profiling, document best practices for primers and coatings.
• Manage trial activities for new business opportunities.
• Coordinate with internal teams to provide fitness-for-use guidance and work on customer technical resolutions.
• Participate in strategic technical meetings and process improvement initiatives.
• Report all field activity and complete technical documentation.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Technical Degree (BS).
• Experience: Demonstrable experience in the industry, with strong pressroom and printing process knowledge.
• Expert in HP Indigo printing technology; experience running/supporting HP Indigo presses for Label & Packaging.
• Ideally trained to HP Indigo Press Operator Level 2 or 3.
• Previous experience with Flexo UV coatings.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
