Job summary

British Transport Police is seeking a Technical Advisor/Project Manager for its Estates Department in London. The role focuses on leading estate transformation projects, reviewing surveys, and developing robust business cases through governance and RIBA stages.

You will manage multi-disciplinary teams and drive agile practices across the estate. Applicants should have degree-level estates experience in the public sector, professional body membership (RIBA/RICS/CIOB), and MSP/PRINCE2

• Degree-level education with extensive estates experience in public sector or similar.
• Fully qualified Architect or Surveyor with current membership to RIBA, RICS and/or CIOB.
• Programme/Project Management qualification (MSP, PRINCE2 or equivalent).

What You'll Be Doing

Qualifications

What you'll bring to the team:

• Degree-level education with extensive estates experience in public sector or similar.
• Will be either a fully qualified Architect or Surveyor with current membership to the appropriate professional body. (RIBA, RICS and /or CIOB).
• Programme/Project Management qualification (MSP, PRINCE2 or equivalent).

Experience

• Proven leadership of large, complex estates projects.
• End-to-end project and change management across all lifecycle stages.
• Strong technical knowledge of construction, compliance, and building regulations.
• Experience managing budgets, risks, and multiple programmes simultaneously.
• Collaboration with commercial/legal teams on contracts and suppliers.

Technical & Knowledge

• Ability to create briefs, manage tenders, and oversee delivery.
• Knowledge of estates, property, and facilities management in the public sector.
• Familiarity with construction best practice and emerging technologies.
• Computer literate with project management tools.

Essential Skills

• Deliver complex estates programmes using recognised methods and processes.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and teams across locations.
• Analytical decision-making with budgetary and resource control.

Additional Information

BTP is a National Force and this role will require travel across the country.
