Job Description
An international non-profit industry body, headquartered in London, is seeking a Technical Adviser to lead on technical projects, develop best practice publications and represent members in regulatory and industry forums.
This organisation promotes safe and environmentally responsible operations in the liquefied gas shipping and terminal sector. Its members include shipowners, terminal operators, classification societies and regulators. It produces technical guidance, facilitates collaboration, and represents the industry in global regulatory discussions.
This is a role for someone who thrives on research at depth. You'll be reading through long, highly technical publications - sometimes to find a single relevant detail, and using that as the starting point for further investigation.
You'll go directly to manufacturers, ship operators, regulators and other industry sources to gather information that fills the gaps. That research will form the backbone of the guidance you develop for the industry.
You'll be working at the centre of this organisation, managing technical workstreams, producing high-quality publications, and representing the organisation in international forums.
You'll plan and run working groups, facilitate consensus between technical experts, and make sure projects stay aligned with strategic priorities. Your work will require patience, persistence, and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
Key responsibilities:
This role will suit someone with a strong technical background in liquefied gas shipping or terminal operations, who enjoys investigative work and can translate complex information into practical, authoritative guidance.
You'll be confident engaging with senior technical specialists and will have the stamina to work through complex material in detail.
You'll need:
This is a full-time, permanent, position based in the central London five days per week. The role is 35 hours a week, Monday to Friday.
Applicants must have the right to live and work in the UK.
