Job summary

British Airways is seeking a Technical Accounting Analyst to support the Finance and Transformation team. You will provide clear IFRS-based accounting guidance, help with contracts and leases, and contribute to reporting and audit processes, ensuring compliant and robust financial results.

The role emphasizes complex accounting judgements, collaboration with stakeholders, and improving processes through new technologies. An ACA/ACCA background and IFRS proficiency are essential.

Qualifications

• Strong IFRS knowledge with ability to explain IFRS concepts clearly.
• Experience working across a complex business, with collaboration across teams.
• Ability to model financial scenarios and provide accounting judgements.

Responsibilities

• Provide clear, practical technical accounting guidance across BA, aligned to IFRS and IAG policy.
• Partner with Finance teams to support contract changes and ensure accurate accounting treatment.
• Contribute to projects needing specialist accounting input and support audits with external auditors.
• Deliver key reporting activities including impairment reviews and going concern assessments.
• Take ownership of lease accounting, including systems and disclosures.
• Manage provisions (EU261, maintenance, end-of-lease) with robust forecasts.
• Review treasury accounting and hedge compliance.
• Bring new technology and smarter ways of working into the team.

The role: Technical Accounting Analyst

This role sits in our Finance and Transformation team, where technical accounting expertise helps guide key decisions across the airline. From leases and treasury to complex IFRS interpretation, this team plays a vital part in how we report, plan, and move forward. What You’ll Do

• Provide clear, practical technical accounting guidance across BA, aligned to IFRS and IAG policy

Your Experience

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA)
• Experience in a complex business, technical accounting role, or Big 4 environment
• Strong IFRS knowledge, particularly IAS 23, IAS 37, IAS 39, IFRS 7, 9 and 16
• Experience with financial modelling and accounting judgements
• Confident working with stakeholders and auditors
