Job summary

A leading recruitment firm in London is seeking a Technical Accountant for a 5-7 month contract. This role supports year-end reporting within the Financial Accounting team and requires a Big 4-trained ACA/CA qualified accountant with strong IFRS knowledge. Candidates should have experience in financial services and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The position offers hybrid work, with 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.

Job description

Technical Accountant - Contract
Location: London (Hybrid - 3 days in office, 2 days from home)
Contract Length: 5-7 months (depending on start date)
Start Date: Early October

We are working with a leading bank with a vibrant, collaborative culture to recruit a Technical Accountant on a contract basis to support year-end reporting within their Financial Accounting team.

This role is ideally suited to a Big 4-trained ACA/CA qualified accountant (0-4 years Post Qualified) with strong technical accounting expertise, particularly in financial services or banking. You'll join a high-performing team that handles complex financial reporting and valuation work, providing exposure to a wide range of financial instruments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support year-end reporting across equities, loans, bonds, guarantees, and other financial instruments
  • Manage reporting processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Apply strong IFRS knowledge to prepare and review technical accounting papers and disclosures
  • Perform valuation work to ensure reported numbers accurately reflect underlying positions
  • Work closely with colleagues across finance to deliver accurate and timely reporting
  • Contribute to process improvements

About You

  • ACA or CA qualified (0-4 years PQE) - Big 4 trained
  • Experience auditing banks or financial services firms
  • Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and its application in financial services
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail
