Job summary

Lloyd’s Market Insurer is seeking a Technical Accountant to support UK finance with a mix of statutory and syndicate reporting, plus UK-to-US GAAP consolidation and control development.

Ideal candidates will be ACA/CA qualified with ~3+ years post-qualification experience in insurance, able to work independently, and effectively communicate accounting implications to the finance team.

Qualifications

• ACA/CA qualification with 3+ years post-qualification experience in insurance or big audit firm.
• Experience with Lloyd’s market accounts and technical memos is a plus.
• Ability to translate accounting conclusions into postings and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare syndicate annual accounts for Lloyd’s filing and assist statutory reporting under FRS 102/103.
• Own UK GAAP to US GAAP consolidation walk, including postings and reconciliations.
• Identify changes to UK/US GAAP, maintain policies, and explain impacts to finance.
• Develop and review controls matrices across UK finance over reporting processes.
• Account for consortium income/expenses with postings and reconciliations.
• Support quarterly UK group forecasts and monthly ledger activities.

I’m working exclusively with a Lloyd’s market insurer seeking a Technical Accountant to support its UK finance team. The role combines statutory and syndicate reporting, UK to US GAAP consolidation, and the development of finance controls. You’ll work closely with the UK Technical Accounting Officer and have scope to take ownership of technical accounting work from the outset.

The role

• Prepare syndicate annual accounts for filing with Lloyd’s and support statutory reporting under FRS 102 and FRS 103.
• Own the UK GAAP to US GAAP consolidation walk, including adjustments, postings and reconciliation of results.
• Identify changes to UK and US GAAP requirements, maintain accounting policies and technical memos, and explain their impact to the finance team.
• Develop and review risk control matrices across UK finance, including controls over reporting processes and data hand offs.
• Account for consortium income and expenses, including postings and reconciliations.
• Support the quarterly UK group flash forecast, monthly ledger activities and other technical accounting projects.

Your background

You’ll ideally be ACA or CA qualified, with around three years or more of post-qualification experience gained in insurance, either within an insurer or a leading audit and accounting firm.

You should be comfortable working through technical accounting issues independently, translating conclusions into accurate postings and reporting, and communicating clearly with colleagues across finance.

Experience of Lloyd’s syndicate accounts, UK and US GAAP differences, or finance controls would be particularly relevant.
