Job summary

Wallace Hind Selection is recruiting for a Technical Account Manager near Coventry. The role suits someone with a strong hands-on mechanical background and experience across service, maintenance, technical support or sales engineering.

The position is hybrid, with a base salary up to £45,000 and an extensive benefits package, including annual bonus and a company car. You will manage key OEM and end-user relationships and travel to sites for training and support.

Qualifications

• Experience in service, maintenance or technical support with a hands-on mechanical background.
• Qualified Mechanical Engineer (ONC, HNC or HND+).
• Strong mechanical understanding with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Able to manage a diary and handle 10–20 key accounts as the face of the brand.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain relationships with 15–20 Key Account OEM and end-user clients.
• Split time between technical meetings and follow-up enquiries; provide training and technical solutions.
• Aim for circa 20 visits per month to customers.
• Schedule work with some accounts receiving around 24 appointments per year.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are investing in the hire, training and development of a Mechanical Field Engineer, who will develop and maintain relationships (from an engineering perspective) with circa 15-20 Key Account OEM and End User clients.

TheTechnical Account Manager role will be split between scheduled 'technical' meetings with key account decision makers and reactionary meetings generated through the following up of enquiries, and networking through existing key accounts. These meetings will be varied and will include offering training, technical support, reacting to quality issues, offering expert advice and technical solutions to engineering problems.

We prioritise face to face engagement where possible. In this role, the expectation of our Technical Account Manager is circa 20 visits a month.

Scheduled work is arranged by you, where the frequency depends on the seniority of the client (some of our high profile accounts receive circa 24 scheduled appointments a year). Much of this work, is providing expert training and induction to educate customers on how to get the best out of our solutions and identify potential concerns before they arise.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

• An experienced Service, Maintenance, Technical Support, Applications or even Sales Engineer with a good hands-on mechanical engineering background (either by education or time-served).
• You're a qualified Mechanical Engineer (ONC, HNC or HND +)
• You need a strong (and ideally broad) Mechanical Engineering understanding with excellent inter-personal skills.
• You'll be happy and able to manage your own diary, book appointments with circa 10-20 key accounts, and represent the company to these decision makers as a 'face of the brand.'
