Job summary

The Bedford College Group seeks a Technician in Plumbing / Electrical at Kempston Campus to support workshops, resources and student learning within the Apprenticeships department. You will assist lecturers, manage tools and stock, and help maintain safe, compliant workshop environments.

Applicants should hold a Level 2 construction trade qualification with relevant electrical or plumbing experience, and be able to work flexibly across locations. Right to work in the UK is required.

Qualifications

• Holds a Level 2 construction trade qualification with relevant experience in electrical or plumbing industry.
• Strong knowledge of safe working practices and wider construction trades.
• Commitment to achieving and maintaining required qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical support to lecturers, trainers and students within Electrical Installation, Plumbing and wider Construction workshops, helping learners develop skills and achieve their qualifications.
• Manage workshop stores, stock, tools and equipment, maintain accurate inventory systems, oversee equipment loans, and monitor stock levels and expenditure in line with budgets and College procedures.
• Service, repair and prepare tools, equipment and work areas, manufacture teaching aids, replace damaged components, and ensure resources are available and fit for purpose for teaching activities.
• Maintain safe, clean and secure workshop environments, undertake risk and COSHH assessments, ensure compliance with relevant regulations, and support day-to-day site security arrangements.
• Support student discipline, participate in marketing and engagement events, promote safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion, health and safety, and undertake ongoing training and professional development.
