The Role

A Manager with a SAP Controls focus within the team would typically be responsible for driving growth of all of our SAP service lines as part of the wider ERP & Business systems team, developing new business from existing clients and new prospects, building deep and enduring relationships with blue chip organisations, and establishing themselves as a subject matter expert in this type of assurance and consulting support.

Responsibilities
  1. Managing sales activities such as responding to RFPs/ audit tenders, bid management, proposal writing, and client presentations.
  2. Leading and managing SAP security and controls engagements, including planning, execution, and reporting.
  3. Evaluating the design and effectiveness of SAP controls throughout the business cycles.
  4. Responsibility for the overall output from client engagements.
  5. Overseeing the scoping, financial management, managing delivery risk, production, and review of deliverables.
  6. Building and managing excellent networks and client relationships (typically at CIO, CFO, and Head of Internal Audit level) across a range of organisations.
  7. Working collaboratively with multiple workstreams to design and implement controls for SAP implementation programmes.
  8. Developing internal networks and maintaining excellent relationships with colleagues across KPMG, promoting the ERP & Business Systems capability specifically for SAP, and informing other KPMG services and capability groups of the value it could add to their engagements.
  9. Be responsible for expanding SAP services in specific IMG segments, e.g., B2C and B2B, while also working across other sectors.
  10. Coaching and developing team members, both as SAP specialists and training wider Technology Risk Consulting team members in areas like ERP analytics and audit integration.
  11. Leading product development and innovation in SAP GRC, data, and analytics technologies to ensure KPMG’s offering remains market-leading globally.
The Person
Experience and Background
  • Experience in SAP Security (e.g., Basis & Role design knowledge).
  • Experience in SAP business analysis and understanding of core financial business processes (e.g., procure to pay, record to report, order to cash within SAP).
  • Experience with core ERP and/or business systems, including SAP and Oracle.
  • Functional experience with SAP GRC, Financials, and BPC.
  • Strong understanding of SAP applications, including ECC, S/4HANA, and other modules.
  • Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley readiness and controls optimization.
  • Understanding of technology platforms supporting the industry.
  • Ability to present on industry-specific subjects to large groups.
  • Understanding system risks and controls, relating them to the wider business environment, and clearly expressing opinions at all levels.
  • Ability to develop excellent client and internal relationships.
  • Capability to deliver work within tight timescales, budgets, and high-quality standards.

Successful candidates will also demonstrate:

  • Proven experience in identifying and developing sales opportunities.
  • Strong people management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with first-rate interpersonal skills at all levels.
  • Ability to present on specific subjects to large groups (internal and external clients).
  • Skill in translating SAP technical data analysis into accessible business language, expressing clear opinions relevant to the business environment.

  • Proven ability to work within tight deadlines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Excellent team player, capable of working independently.
  • Ability to adopt new technologies and innovations, assessing and explaining their value within SAP capabilities.
  • Strong understanding of Segregation of Duties risks and controls within SAP landscapes.
  • Proven success in delivering SAP-related technology consulting services.

This role requires SAP experience, particularly in delivering SAP process controls and assurance services. The candidate will engage in client-facing activities and relationship building across various corporate clients.
