Salary: £75k to £80k, dependent on experience

Job Description

Underwaterpistol (UWP) is seeking a hands-on Tech Lead to join our growing agency. You will serve as our technical figurehead, coaching and supporting our development team and delivering top-tier ecommerce experiences on Shopify Plus.

What You’ll Do

• Act as technical figurehead, collaborating with developers to remove blockers, shape technical solutions, and guide architectural decisions
• Lead and mentor a talented team of developers, conducting 1:1s, coaching, and performance reviews
• Work closely with project managers, designers, and strategists to ensure smooth project delivery within technical disciplines
• Maintain high standards for code quality, documentation, and knowledge sharing
• Promote innovation and stay updated on new Shopify and web technologies

What You Bring

• Extensive experience with Shopify (including Plus), Liquid, and the broader Shopify ecosystem
• Proven leadership skills — empathetic, emotionally intelligent, and technically assertive
• Strong front-end skills (React, TypeScript, CSS) and understanding of modern build pipelines
• Ability to manage multiple projects, balancing billable work and technical leadership
• Comfortable working remotely within a distributed team and fast-paced environment

Nice to Haves

• Experience mentoring developers in an agency or ecommerce setting
• Track record of championing initiatives or tooling improvements
• Familiarity with headless Shopify builds, Hydrogen, and Shopify Functions
