Job summary

Remotestar is seeking an experienced engineering leader to drive a high-performing fullstack team in a hybrid UK setting. You will own backend and frontend delivery, shape the technical roadmap with Product, and uphold modern engineering standards across microservices on AWS.

You will mentor engineers, design scalable systems using Java, Spring, TypeScript, and AWS services, and ensure timely delivery in an agile environment with TDD/BDD practices.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in application development.
• Proficiency in React Native, Java, Spring, TypeScript and microservice architectures.
• Strong knowledge of AWS cloud services (API Gateway, Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, SQS, Kinesis; Terraform).
• Experience with building and operating microservices at scale; delivery-focused with agile practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead the fullstack team using agile practices.
• Be accountable for delivery of the roadmap agreed with Product counterparts.
• Ensure teams engage in the roadmap process and deliver to commitments.
• Lead and uphold high standards of modern engineering practices, quality and attainment.
• Be accountable for production service quality and provide L3 support with teams.
• Liaise with Group to ensure effective delivery and production support.
• Manage performance of teams and team members.
• Design, develop, and maintain backend systems using TypeScript, Java, Spring, and Maven.
• Implement microservices-based solutions using AWS Lambdas and ECS containers; integrate with systems and services.
• Utilize Kafka for messaging and streaming; design schemas for DynamoDB; ensure data integrity.
• Develop and consume RESTful APIs and asynchronous communication; ensure best practices.
• Mentor junior developers and guide professional growth.
• Own complex changes, remove impediments, and ensure timely delivery.
• Work in an Agile environment with pair programming, TDD, and BDD.
