We are looking for a highly skilled and technically strong Tech Lead for our Cards Issuing squad. The ideal candidate will have experience leading engineering teams in fintech or payments-related products, with a deep understanding of scalable architecture, cross-functional collaboration, and delivering outstanding technical solutions. This position will play a key role in the success of AstroPay’s card issuing capabilities, partnering closely with Product, Engineering Managers, and other stakeholders.

About the role

As Tech Lead of the Cards Issuing squad, you will be the technical cornerstone behind our mission to deliver reliable and seamless card solutions to our users worldwide. You’ll lead a team of talented engineers focused on building and optimizing the platforms that power card creation, distribution, and management. Your work will directly influence our ability to provide a smooth and scalable issuing experience in multiple markets. This role offers the chance to combine technical leadership with hands-on development, while also collaborating closely with Product and cross-functional partners to deliver high-quality, user-centric solutions.

Responsibilities
- Lead the Cards product at AstroPay in partnership with Cards Product Manager.
- Lead technical decisions and architecture design for the squad.
- Ensure code quality, scalability, system performance and uptime.
- Mentor and grow team members.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Fraud and Finance to meet defined goals.
- Foster engineering excellence through championing best practices and mentoring them to the rest of the team.
- Act as a technical representative in cross-functional discussions.

Requirements
- 6+ years in software development, 2+ in technical leadership roles.
- Strong backend experience (Java is a plus).
- 2+ years of experience with card issuing and card management platforms.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Experience in Agile development environments.
