Job summary

GoCardless Ltd, a Mollie company, is seeking a Legal Counsel for a 12-month maternity cover. You will work across the business, reviewing contracts, negotiating commercial terms and supporting templates and playbooks. A consultative approach with the business and collaboration within a busy legal team is essential.

The role requires 2–3 years PQE, private practice or in-house experience, and a proactive, tech‑savvy mindset. Familiarity with SaaS, FCA requirements or payment services is a bonus.

Qualifications

• Lawyer with private practice training and/or in-house experience in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to distill complex legalese into clear English and communicate with non-lawyers.
• Willingness to roll up sleeves and drive efficiency in a busy legal team.

Responsibilities

• Review and negotiate customer, partnership and supplier contracts with pragmatic, commercial support.
• Contribute to roll-out of new templates and templates improvements.
• Build self-help tools, playbooks and guides for the legal team and wider business.
• Improve contracting automation and workflows; handle diverse legal issues as they arise.
