Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting Team Teach SEND Teaching Assistants for Bristol and South Gloucestershire specialist SEND schools, starting September 2026. You will work with pupils with complex SEND, using Team Teach/de-escalation techniques to support emotional regulation and positive behaviour.

The role is full-time, long-term, with PAYE payroll, and weekly pay of £445. There is potential for permanent opportunities and access to CPD courses and certificates.

Qualifications

• Team Teach training or recognised de-escalation/positive handling training.
• At least 6 months' experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
• Experience in specialist SEND settings, alternative provision, care or therapeutic settings.
• Ability to remain calm, patient and resilient when supporting pupils who may become dysregulated or display challenging behaviour.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small-group support to pupils with complex needs alongside teachers and therapists.
• Use Team Teach or de-escalation techniques to manage challenging situations safely and positively.
• Promote emotional regulation, engagement and positive behaviour.
• Build strong relationships with pupils and understand behaviour as communication.
• Support pupils to develop confidence, independence, communication and life skills.
