What you will do:
- Guide and manage a multi-disciplined team, ensuring effective service delivery through strategic planning and resource management.
- Ensure statutory childcare duties are met, maintaining high standards of professional practice and compliance with regulations.
- Provide leadership and support to social workers, ensuring appropriate decision-making and supervision.
- Implement council policies related to HR issues, including equalities and health & safety.
- Optimise team performance through regular supervision, coaching, and appraisal.
- Oversee recruitment, retention, and professional development of staff and carers.
- Manage team budget, ensuring effective allocation and utilisation of resources.
- Collaborate with partner agencies to safeguard children and improve their life chances.
- Monitor service delivery and make improvements based on feedback and best practices.
- Chair meetings related to child protection and legal planning, ensuring strategic direction is maintained.
Qualifications - Essential and Evidenced:
- Registered as a social worker with Social Work England.
- Social Work qualification (e.g., Social Work Degree or Diploma in Social Work).
- Achieved or commitment to study for a specialist Post-Qualifying (PQ) award or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years' post-qualifying experience as a social worker.
