Job summary

Services for Older Adults in North London Foundation Trust (NLFT) are undergoing widespread, innovative transformation. This includes the development of an Older Adults Home Treatment Team for the NLFT north boroughs. The post holder will manage the Older Adult Home Treatment Team covering the boroughs of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey.

You will be leading and managing a multidisciplinary team and working with other Older Adult Home Treatment Team and Adult Crisis Team managers to make sure that home treatment services are innovative and high-quality services which have the service users best interest at its heart.

The post holder will lead on governance and audit within the team, ensuring that team members are supported and developed to their potential and that new team members are comprehensively inducted and successfully integrated into the team.

Main duties of the job
  • Take operational day to day management responsibility at team level using performance management systems to ensure the effective delivery of contract activity.
  • Work with the Service Lead to deliver Integrated Governance requirements and be responsible for delivering governance within the team. This may include contributing to the writing of policy and procedure documents relating to clinical practice.
  • Oversee the provision of expert, autonomous and highly specialist clinical practice within the MDT
  • Ensure clinical staff maintain accurate and up to date records.

Job responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and line management to the MDT to ensure the delivery of high quality and safe clinical services.
  • Promote a culture that fosters staff involvement and a progressive attitude to service improvement.
  • Work with the Service Lead to deliver a culture and style of leadership that develops, empowers people, recognising achievement and promoting continuous development of staff and teams.
  • Ensure that all duties within the role are delivered in accordance with trust policy and professional registration practice. Ensuring that professional registration requirements of staff are met.
  • Be managed by and receive supervision from a nominated line manager, including annual review of performance as part of the appraisal system
Person Specification
Qualification and Registration

Essential:

  • Diploma or degree leading to professional Registered qualification in Mental Health or equivalent qualification.
  • Current registration with a professional body
  • Evidence of recent and on-going academic study and/or CPD

Desirable:

  • Current Level 2 Safeguarding Children and Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults certificates
  • Master's degree in relevant field or equivalent experience
Skills/ Abilities

Essential:

  • Ability to communicate both in verbal and written form at a high level in a range of complex areas
  • Well-developed leadership skills with the ability to enthuse, motivate and involve team members
  • Evidence of effective workforce development and of using systems to ensure effective staff management (supervision, appraisal and ongoing performance management)
Experience/ Knowledge

Essential:

  • Significant management experience in mental health service delivery
  • To demonstrate an extensive and sound knowledge base in the provision of mental health services and preferred treatment methods
  • Demonstrate a clear professional understanding and practical experience of the Mental Health Act and its application / use in practice.
Personal Qualities/Other Requirements

Essential:

  • Compassionate leader - approachable, visible, and open to learn
  • Full driving license and access to own vehicle
