A leading local authority seeks a Family Safeguarding Team Manager to provide leadership within a committed team. The role offers an opportunity to shape the development of social work practice, fostering autonomy while ensuring a supportive environment. Generous benefits, training, and a commitment to work-life balance make this an attractive career move for qualified social workers. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply and contribute to improving lives within Somerset.
Department: Social Care
Working pattern: Full Time
Location: Shepton Mallet
You will be joining a permanent management team, including some experienced colleagues and some who are at the beginning of their management career. You will join a team where we are all about relationship-based and strengths-based management, and where Team Managers work together across the service to provide an excellent service to families, and support and develop our teams. You’ll be encouraged to be an autonomous manager, but you’ll be supported all the way by your colleagues and your line manager.
You’ll be leading a Family Safeguarding team which is permanently staffed, with a balance of experienced and newly qualified workers. You will work with skilled adult-focussed practitioners and enjoy positive relationships with managers in the agencies who are part of our Family Safeguarding model. Workers in our Family Safeguarding teams received positive feedback during our recent Ofsted inspection and team diagnostics, for their proactive and thoughtful support to children and their families and the quality of their care planning.
You might be someone with some supervisory experience who’s looking to step up into your first management role, or you might be someone who has management experience already who is looking for a change. You will be passionate about relationship-based social work, proud of your profession, and able to reflect and think creatively about how to support your team and contribute to the organisation as a whole. You will need to be a qualified social worker registered with Social Work England and have substantial experience working with children and families in social work.
We are proud to offer an environment that is supportive and rewarding, working as part of a team who are passionate about the work they do to improve the lives of people in Somerset.
We offer great training and development opportunities, with supportive management. As well as this, we have some fantastic employee benefits available:
