Job description

Job Description

If you have a drive for efficiency and precision, a full and valid UK driving licence, and previous management experience, we want you in our Logistics team!

An integral part of Ocado’s success as an online grocery provider is the highly important Spokes responsible for the delivery of our customers’ orders. Within these spokes, our Team Managers are the backbone of the operation, with their skills, knowledge, and desire to help manage a successful spoke, in order to provide the best possible employee and customer experience of Ocado.

Be Part of Something New – Join Us in Shaping the Future

Due to continued growth, Ocado is excited to announce the launch of a new spoke in Nottingham. This is a unique opportunity to be part of something from the ground up — to help shape the culture, success, and future of a newly created site. If you're seeking a fresh challenge and the chance to make a real impact, we want to hear from you.

About the role

The following tasks are not an exhaustive list of responsibilities for a Team Manager and are subject to change:

  • Manage the delivery operation team, including recruitment, training, and performance management of all spoke drivers
  • Chair meetings with drivers, including absence, disciplinary, and welfare meetings in line with Ocado policies
  • Manage site operations, ensuring all KPIs, targets, and deadlines are met without disruption
  • Ensure all health and safety measures are in place and followed; all training requirements are met and up to date

This role is for 40 hours per week, working a variation of 10-hour shifts on any 4 days from 7, including some weekends.

About you

The ideal candidate will shape and drive a world-class employee experience and environment to attract and retain the right people, leading teams to foster a culture of respect, loyalty, trust, and aspiration.

  • Ensure KPIs such as labour turnover, absence rates, and engagement scores are a vital focus
  • Encourage self-improvement, training, and development to support succession planning and drive site-wide engagement initiatives
  • Experience in conducting formal meetings and applying relevant policies is desired
  • Strong communication and numeracy skills, with a passion for dealing with people and achieving employee satisfaction
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and compliance; previous experience in a spoke/warehouse or logistics environment is highly desirable

What do I get in return?

At Ocado Logistics, we offer competitive salaries and more:

  • Up to 7% matched pension contributions after three months
  • Employer-funded medical insurance after three months
  • Enhanced digital GP service for you and your dependents
  • Tools for health and wellbeing, including Wellbeing Champions
  • High street shopping and restaurant discounts, including 15% off Ocado.com

We value work-life balance with policies like 30 days work-from-anywhere and options to buy additional holidays. Opportunities for progression are plentiful, with 87% of salaried roles filled internally.
