Are you an experienced and passionate social work leader with expertise in court proceedings and complex case management? Cardiff Children’s Services is looking for aTeam Manager (Court Specialist)to lead the way in high-quality, trauma-informed practice and make a real difference in the lives of children and families.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Take a lead role in managingcomplex children’s cases, particularly those under PLO
  • Provideexpert guidance and mentoringto social workers across the service
  • Drive improvements inpractice quality, risk analysis, and legal case management
  • Act as aleader in trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches
  • Chair and attend meetings such as Legal Planning Meetings, core groups, and statutory reviews
  • Work closely with partners in health, education, and legal services to co-produce new services
  • Maintain oversight ofcourt budgetsand resources related to case management
  • Support Cardiff’scourt improvement strategyas part of a multi-agency effort

What We’re Looking ForEssential Requirements

  • Registered Social Worker
  • Significantpost-qualifying experiencein statutory children’s social work
  • Strong experience incourt work, including interpreting legal advice and drafting court reports
  • Proven ability tolead and motivate teams, and develop practice in others
  • Experience working within case management frameworks and deliveringpositive outcomes
  • Sound understanding of child protection, children looked after, and safeguarding legislation
  • Strongorganisational and decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently
  • Knowledge oftrauma-informed, strengths-based modelsand child-centred approaches
  • Ability to speak Welsh or another community language (e.g. Arabic, Somali, Polish, Czech)
  • Familiarity with solution-focused, restorative, or motivational interviewing techniques

Key Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills
  • High-level IT proficiency, including use of council data systems
  • Ability to manage performance, supervise staff, and monitor KPIs
  • Confident in chairing meetings and managing inter-agency relationships
  • Understanding of how adversity affects family dynamics and child development
