Message from the Director

Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of children, young people, and families? Do you want to be part of a transformative journey to improve Havering’s community services? We invite you to join us in our mission to enhance our Children's Social Care Services within the Starting Well Department.

Following an inadequate Ofsted inspection, we are committed to an improvement journey to re-establish and promote excellent practice across all our services. We seek dedicated social care practitioners eager to advocate for children, promote their well-being, and contribute to this significant change.

We offer opportunities for professional development, including 10 days of learning annually, access to our Social Care Academy, and systemic training. We aim to create an environment where every child receives the best support and where staff can thrive in safe, supportive, and nurturing settings.

Our senior leaders have developed an improvement plan, and if you are ready to embrace this challenge and play a key role in our journey, we encourage you to apply.

About the role

As a Team Manager, you will empower and support social workers to deliver high-quality services, ensuring effective management and compliance with standards, legislation, and guidance. Your responsibilities include:

  • Managing and overseeing staff to ensure effective service delivery to children, young people, and their families.
  • Leading and monitoring staff in accurate recording of information, capturing the voice of the child.
  • Assisting in planning and developing services, identifying needs and challenges, and escalating issues as needed.
  • Managing budgets effectively to ensure cost-efficient services.
  • Producing reports and representing the team in meetings and forums.

Ideally, you will have experience working within Children with Disabilities.

If successful, you will be expected to:

  • Manage staff to deliver effective services.
  • Ensure robust recording and evidence of the child's voice.
  • Support service planning and development.
  • Manage budgets efficiently.
  • Attend meetings and produce reports.
