Job summary

Ackerman Pierce Company is seeking an experienced social worker supervisor in Nottingham to lead a busy Children’s Locality team, provide practice leadership and professional oversight, and ensure safeguarding compliance.

You will oversee assessments, care planning, statutory visits and complex casework, lead multi‑agency partnerships, and promote strengths-based, child-centered practice to secure safe, positive outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising social work teams in a Children’s Services setting.
• In-depth knowledge of safeguarding legislation and procedures.
• Proven ability to lead practice improvement and oversee complex cases.

Salary: £42- £45 / Hour

Location: Nottingham

Experienced in managing and supervising social workers within a busy Children’s Locality service, providing strong practice leadership and professional oversight.

Strong knowledge of Children Act 1989, safeguarding, Child in Need and Child Protection procedures.

Experienced in overseeing assessments, care planning, statutory visits and complex casework, ensuring children’s needs and safety remain central.

Confident managing high-risk and complex safeguarding cases, providing clear direction on risk management and decision-making.

Skilled in reflective supervision, performance management and staff development, supporting practitioners to achieve high standards of practice.

Experienced in quality assurance, case auditing and reviewing practice, ensuring statutory timescales and local authority procedures are met.

Strong knowledge of thresholds, permanence planning and escalation, ensuring children receive the appropriate level of intervention and support.

Experienced in working with families and multi-agency professionals, including education, health, police and other partner agencies.

Able to provide effective practice guidance and decision-making in relation to complex assessments, safeguarding concerns and legal proceedings.

Strong focus on improving outcomes for children, promoting strengths-based, child-centred and evidence-based social work practice.
