This is an exciting opportunity to manage and inspire a team of social workers, ensuring that children in care receive high-quality, person-centred support that helps them thrive.

About the Role

As Team Manager, you’ll:

  • Lead and oversee a team of qualified social workers managing children in care cases.
  • Ensure assessments, care planning and reviews are timely, effective, and child-focused.
  • Support your team in managing a capped caseload (max 18 cases), ensuring quality practice over quantity.
  • Champion best practice in line with current legislation and statutory guidance.
  • Build strong partnerships with education, health, and other services to deliver holistic care.
  • Guide staff through complex casework, court processes, and multi-agency decision-making.

This role offers home working flexibility, access to a supportive senior leadership team, and a strong commitment to professional development.

What You’ll Need

We’re looking for a confident leader with:

  • A Social Work degree and registration with Social Work England.
  • Significant experience managing social workers in statutory children’s services.
  • A deep understanding of the needs and challenges faced by children in care and care leavers.
  • Experience working within court, pre-proceedings, CIN and child protection processes.
  • Excellent communication, mediation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • The ability to motivate teams, build resilience, and support reflective supervision.
Ideal Candidate Will Also Have
  • Sound knowledge of the Children Act 1989, Care Planning Regulations and the Children and Families Act 2014.
  • Experience in multi-disciplinary and inter-agency working.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and evidence-based practice.
  • A passion for creating safe, supportive, and stable environments for children.
