As a Team Manager, you will be passionate about working collaboratively with young people, families, partners, and professionals across the wider system to ensure that care leavers receive high-quality support, guidance, and opportunities as they transition into adulthood. You will understand the importance of building strong relationships and promoting a culture where young people feel empowered, valued, and supported to achieve their aspirations.

We are looking for a leader who can provide both high support and constructive challenge to their team, creating an environment where staff feel motivated, developed, and accountable. You will champion reflective practice, encourage innovation, and promote continuous learning to ensure that services remain responsive to the changing needs of care leavers.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the leadership, management, and supervision of a team of approximately 7 to 8 Personal Advisors and practitioners. You will provide effective case oversight, quality assurance, and performance management, ensuring statutory responsibilities are met and that interventions deliver meaningful and lasting outcomes for young people.

A key aspect of the role will be leading and contributing to service development initiatives. As we continue our journey of improvement and transformation, you will play an important role in identifying opportunities to enhance practice, strengthen partnership working, and embed innovative approaches that improve the experiences and outcomes of care leavers.

We are looking for a manager who:

  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to corporate parenting and improving outcomes for care-experienced young people.
  • Has the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop staff to achieve high standards of practice and performance.
  • Can effectively balance support and challenge to drive continuous improvement.
  • Has excellent partnership-building skills and can work collaboratively across agencies and sectors.
  • Is committed to delivering services that are ambitious, relational, and trauma-informed.
  • Can lead change confidently and contribute positively to the ongoing development of the Leaving Care Service.

This is an opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of young people as they move towards independence, ensuring they have the relationships, support, and opportunities they need to thrive and succeed in adulthood.

We have been rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted, following a 2023 inspection. This is a fantastic achievement for Birmingham Children's Trust, with many positive highlights focusing on areas including the quality of staff leadership, partnership working, safeguarding and corporate parenting.

This is a hybrid role based in Birmingham so you must reside within a suitable commutable distance around Birmingham and have the correct right-to-work documents to work in the UK. Sadly, we do not support those who require sponsorship.
