Job summary

Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking an inspirational Team Manager to lead the Care Experienced Young People Team. This role supports care-experienced young people aged 16-25 through a new permanent post created to back service expansion.

You will provide leadership, ensure high-quality relationship-based support, drive pathway planning, and strengthen partnerships with housing, health, education and community services to improve outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Holds a recognised Social Work qualification and is registered with Social Work England.
  • Significant experience with care experienced young people, children in care or leaving care services.
  • Experience in leading, supervising and developing staff.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance and best practice relating to care leavers and corporate parenting responsibilities.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with young people, families and partner agencies.
  • Commitment to strengths-based practice and improving outcomes for young people.
  • Energy, creativity and determination to improve services.

The Role

As Team Manager, you will provide leadership, direction and support to a dedicated team working with care experienced young people aged 16-25. This is a new, permanent role created due to expansion in our Care Experienced People’s Service.

You will:

About You

You will be a passionate and motivated leader with experience of working with children, young people and families within statutory services.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Holds a recognised Social Work qualification and is registered with Social Work England.
  • Has significant experience working with care experienced young people, children in care or leaving care services.
  • Has experience of leading, supervising and developing staff.
  • Has sound knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance and best practice relating to care leavers and corporate parenting responsibilities.
  • Can build strong and effective relationships with young people, families and partner agencies.
  • Is committed to strengths-based practice and achieving the very best outcomes for young people.
  • Brings energy, creativity and determination to improving services.
