Job description

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Team Manager to join the Public Health Nursing Service to lead the daily operations and ongoing development of our dedicated team at the 0-19 Health Advice Line for a 12-month fixed-term contract.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management, development, and support of the team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality health advice and support to children, young people, and their families.

Main duties of the job

As Team Manager, this role will be part of the leadership team, overseeing healthcare practitioners including Health Visitors, School Nurses, and Community Nurses. The role involves providing advice, guidance, troubleshooting, and collaborating with colleagues across the wider Together for Families directorate and external partners. Experience in delivering care through digital approaches to improve access is essential. The 0-19 Health Advice Line is a key part of the ongoing digital development of the Public Health Nursing service across Cornwall.

Job responsibilities

The Service and Team:

We are looking for a motivated Team Manager to lead our team at the 0-19 Health Advice Line for a 12-month fixed-term contract, employed on Agenda for Change terms, with NHS pension rights.

The Role:

This is a 0.8 FTE (4 days) position, fixed-term for 12 months. The role involves leading multidisciplinary teams, collaborating across departments, and supporting digital care delivery. An enhanced criminal record check is required. Cornwall Council is committed to safeguarding and equal opportunities.

What you'll need to succeed:

The ideal candidate will be a Community Specialist Practitioner in Public Health (BSc Hons) or equivalent, registered with the NMC, with substantial SCPHN experience, professional development, project management, workforce planning, and service development skills. Knowledge of commissioned services, safeguarding, family-centered public health, and leadership of multidisciplinary teams is essential. Advanced IT skills and the ability to manage change and work under pressure are also required.
